New BOOT Unlock and BENCH protocols for Bosch MD1CS014 “Locked” ECUs – Audi and Volkswagen.

KESS3 Protocol Release

4 November 2026 Upgrade 3.71

Work on the latest-generation 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engines from the VAG Group.

With KESS3, you can now work on protected Bosch MD1CS014 ECUs fitted to Audi and Volkswagen models with 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engines, produced from 2021 onwards.

The initial operation requires opening the ECU and unlocking it using the dedicated BOOT Unlock protocol with the KESS3 Unlock Module accessory.

Once unlocked, you can also perform reading and writing operations in BENCH mode, connecting directly to the ECU connector, without having to open it again for subsequent operations.

The practical benefits for your workshop:

  • Work in your workshop on Bosch MD1CS014 “Locked” ECUs fitted to Audi and Volkswagen 3.0 V6 TDI models from 2021 onwards.
  • Unlock the ECU in BOOT with KESS3 Unlock Module.
  • Perform reading and writing operations in BENCH mode after the initial unlock, without reopening the ECU.

With KESS3 and the Unlock Module, you extend your capabilities on the latest-generation Audi and Volkswagen models, managing new operations in-house on 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engines, even when protected ECUs are fitted.
